You've just been appointed manager of your very own football team for the 2009/10 Premier League season and the chairman has shown his faith in your ability by promising to invest heavily in new players!
Now it's up to you to consult your shortlist and decide which players you want to select for your all-conquering side. You've got a £55 million budget to spend on building your 11-man team, can choose from the best talent the Premier League has to offer and pick up to two players from any one club.
But in order to be successful you'll need to study the tactics board and find the best way of balancing your team's attacking and defensive instincts into a cohesive unit. You can choose between two tried and tested formations, 4-4-2 and 5-3-2:
The 4-4-2 formation consists of one goalkeeper, four defenders, four midfielders and two strikers.
The 5-3-2 formation consists of one goalkeeper, five defenders, three midfielders and two strikers.
When you're ready to select your team, go to register or login, depending on whether you've already entered your personal details, to start picking the players that will take you to managerial greatness using the brand new Team Selection page. Alternatively, if you're in a rush or don't know which players to choose hit the Lucky Dip button and we'll pick a team for you.
When you have finished picking your team you will be asked to pick a captain to lead your troops into battle. Your captain will score double points for your team, however this means that as well as scoring double points for goals and assists, he will also lose twice as many points for goals conceded and red/yellow cards. You can only change your captain before the first game of a Game Week (Tuesday to Monday).
